Compress PDF files when attachments, portals or archives need a smaller document. This PDF compressor rebuilds pages locally at a chosen quality level, compares byte sizes and keeps the original when compression would be counterproductive.
To compress PDF documents, TiPDF uses transparent rasterization. Each page becomes a browser image, is encoded at the chosen quality, and is placed into a new PDF. This can reduce PDF size when the source contains oversized photos, scans, or complex artwork. It is less useful for efficient text-only files, whose vectors and fonts may occupy fewer bytes than page images.
When you compress PDF files here, the controls change rendering scale and image quality. High favors detail, balanced trades some fidelity for size, and maximum favors smaller output. The handler measures the completed file. If it is not smaller, TiPDF returns the untouched original instead of claiming a reduction.
This process turns pages into images, unlike an optimizer that rewrites streams while preserving every object. Searchable text, links, forms, annotations, and vectors may stop being interactive. Keep the source when these features matter. Merge PDF and Organize PDF copy existing pages without rasterizing them.

To compress PDF content, select one genuine .pdf and receive one .pdf download. Browser jobs allow up to 100 MiB and 500 pages. A damaged, renamed, or encrypted file that cannot be opened is rejected. Unlock a protected PDF only with permission.
All pages are processed; there is no page-range control. The result keeps page count and dimensions, but page contents are rendered instead of copied as editable objects. Large pages and dense scans use more memory, so smaller jobs can be more reliable on a constrained device.
A request such as “compress PDF to 200KB” is a target, not a guarantee. Output depends on page count, dimensions, colors, and complexity. TiPDF shows quality levels and a real byte comparison but does not repeatedly degrade a file to reach an arbitrary threshold.

Start high for reports, balanced for routine sharing, or maximum when a smaller attachment matters more than fine detail. One setting applies to every page.

When you compress PDF pages this way, the operation is lossy because pages become images. Small type, fine rules, and sharp screenshots degrade before broad photographs. Output may look acceptable at fit-to-page but soft at 200% zoom. Higher quality keeps more detail and usually produces a larger file.
Rasterization also changes behavior. Text may stop being selectable or searchable, tagged reading order may be lost, and fields, links, comments, or certificate signatures may not work. Run OCR PDF afterward only if a searchable image-based copy is needed; OCR can introduce errors and cannot recreate the original structure.
When you compress PDF files, the document handler is registered for local processing. Page rendering and PDF assembly occur in browser memory on the current device, without calling the server conversion, storage or AI routes. No upload approval is requested for this job. The site can still load its normal assets and analytics, so the accurate statement concerns document processing rather than a completely offline webpage.
Refreshing or closing the tab clears the active in-memory job. Your downloaded copy remains in the browser's chosen folder and may be included in device backups. TiPDF cannot remove that local file or control what happens after you share it.
A compact text PDF may already use efficient fonts and streams. Page images can be larger, so TiPDF measures both files and returns the original when needed.
